Blossom Africa - Trustee

Closing Date: 1 July 2019

Blossom Africa’s vision is the development of a vibrant network of inspired people supporting themselves and each other to eradicate poverty within their communities. We work with rural communities in Bunambutye, Uganda, offering training and community development opportunities with the aim of achieving long term sustainable change.

You would be joining us during an exciting period of development and growth. We have just trained an additional two groups in Village Savings and loans and will soon be training on improved farming methods to our existing groups. We are a passionate and friendly board with a wide range of knowledge and expertise.

To achieve our vision we would like to appoint at least two new trustees to join our UK board. We specifically seek trustees who are able to lead on developing our communications and fundraising programmes but please still get in touch if these are not your areas of expertise as we would still like to talk to you! We are looking for people with the time, drive and commitment to be a ‘hands on’ trustee and would ask trustees to commit at least 4 hours per month to the role in addition to attending our quarterly meetings.

Blossom Africa is a registered CIO (charity number 1161993) in the UK and has CBO status in Bulambuli, Uganda.

If you have any further questions, would like to discuss this opportunity or request an application pack then please get in touch with Aimee; info@blossomafrica.org or 07967 918915.

Heart for Africa - Trustee  - Rhondda or Cardiff

Closing Date: 30 June 2019 -

Summary of Trustee role:

Heart for Africa (Charity No. 1173027, www.heartforafrica.co.uk) was set up in May 2017 to benefit orphanages, schools and communities in need in the Arusha region of Tanzania. Heart for Africa currently has 4 trustees, all of whom are from Rhondda and connected to Sporting Marvels. Three of these are aged under 35. The constitution allows for a maximum of 12 trustees and we would now like to appoint at least one more trustee who could bring a different perspective.

Criteria for the Trustee:

  • Experience of, or interest in, contributing to international development projects.
  • Some knowledge of Tanzania’s financial and administrative systems
  • Able to attend trustee meetings in Rhondda or Cardiff
  • As we're very focused on the Arusha area, a trustee with first-hand knowledge of the area would also be great. However, we're very open to considering anyone who has some knowledge of Tanzania and is supportive of our work! No previous trustee experience is required – we would very much welcome a younger person looking to take on their first trustee role and help Heart for Africa improve its effectiveness and impact.

To apply please send a letter/e-mail expressing your interest to Fiona Davies at heartforafricateam@gmail.com and copy Fadhili Maghiya, fadhilimaghiya@hubcymruafrica.org.uk

Or if you would like an informal chat about the charity or position, prior to applying, please call Fiona on either 01443 434281 or 07957 615257
